Most sourcing conversations stop at "T1 approved". That is where a good mold can still fail — arriving late, damaged, or into a plant whose press it does not fit.

Crating. Corrosion protection first, wood second. Rust-preventive compound on working surfaces and guides, plates tied with transport bolts so they cannot separate in transit, then VCI film plus a moisture-barrier bag with desiccant. The crate sits on a skid and is fixed through the base; lifting eyes stay accessible. Photograph the mold inside the crate before closing it — that photo settles most damage claims.

HS code. Molds for rubber or plastics are classified by function, not by the material of the part: heading 8480 71 for injection and compression types, with the ten-digit subheading confirmed by your broker against the drawing. Never let anyone "optimise" the code to reduce duty — the declarant carries the liability.

Document pack. Invoice, packing list with weights and dimensions, transport document, certificate of origin — plus the technical file: 2D drawings with tolerances, STEP, cooling and electrical schematics, steel certificates, wear-parts list and the T1 trial report. Two years later it is the STEP file that gets used, not the folder.

Freight mode. Sea to Vladivostok plus rail is the economical route for heavy tooling, roughly 35–55 days door to door; direct rail container about 20–30 days; truck via Zabaikalsk or Blagoveshchensk is fastest and most sensitive to size and season. Book space 5–7 days before the mold leaves the shop, not before T1.

Oversized tooling. A mold up to 2000 × 1600 mm needs a skid with lifting eyes on four sides, verified floor-load limits at both ends of the route, crane capacity at loading and unloading, and sometimes a flat rack instead of a closed container.

Then the first day in the plant: check clamping force, tie-bar distance, mould height and platen hole pattern before the mold goes on the platens, and run the first shots on the parameters recorded in the T1 report — not from memory.

Precimold builds plastic injection molds for food, medical, automotive and sporting goods applications, up to 2 × 1.6 m.
